EN-IoT 2025 (MON 22-Sep-2025; KU Leuven)
2nd Workshop on Energy Neutral and Sustainable IoT Devices and Infrastructure
This workshop focuses on the network infrastructure and innovative approaches to developing energy-neutral devices (ENDs) that operate sustainably within their environmental contexts. Specifically, the workshop aims to discuss typical energy harvesting sources, operational environments, memory and computational resources and materials selection for ENDs, to delve into key END-enabling technologies and to provide insights into specific challenges for the future. The workshop organisers invite researchers, industry professionals and innovators to contribute papers and thus advance the state-of-the-art in sustainable IoT technologies and practices.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Design and optimisation of ENDs
- Sustainable materials and manufacturing processes for IoT
- Energy harvesting technologies and their integration into IoT systems
- Ultra-low power communication technologies and network protocols
- Environmental impact assessments of IoT systems
- Lifecycle management of IoT devices
- Policy and regulatory considerations for sustainable IoT
- Case studies and applications of sustainable IoT, e.g. in smart cities, transportation, agriculture, and healthcare
- Technical enablers for ENDs, e.g. energy management for IoT devices, backscattering, duty cycling and wake-up protocols, non-RF communication technologies, wireless power transfer for IoT, TinyML, federated learning in IoT and application scenarios
- Low-power machine-type communications in 6G
- Ambient IoT standardisation advances and perspectives.
This workshop is a collaboration between three Horizon Europe projects (SUPERIOT, HEXA-X-II and AMBIENT-6G, a COST Action (INTERACT) and the 6G Flagship.

Submission Guidelines
Submitted papers must adhere strictly to the ACM conference manuscript guidelines. Each paper must not exceed six pages in total length, which includes all content such as figures, tables, references and any appendices. The required format is US letter size, using a 9-point font in a double-column layout, and must follow the ACM master article template. Templates are available for both LaTeX and Microsoft Word. Authors using LaTeX can access the official Overleaf template at this link, while Word users can find instructions and templates here.
All submissions must be written in English and include the full names of the authors, their affiliations, and contact information. Papers submitted to the EN-IoT 2025 workshop must be original, meaning they should not have been previously published, accepted for publication, or currently under review at any other venue, including conferences, workshops, or journals.
Accepted papers will be published by the ACM as part of the EWSN 2025 proceedings. Authors of accepted papers are expected to present their work in a plenary session during the main workshop program, which will take place on 22-Sep-2025 in Leuven, Belgium. The working language of the workshop is English.
Submissions must be made through the dedicated EasyChair submission site for EN-IoT 2025, accessible at https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=eniot2025. Only files in PDF format will be accepted, and each file must not exceed 20 megabytes in size.
