Visions for Future Communications Summit
The Summit will cover multiple research lines, roughly structured along Physical Layer, Network and Control Plane, and Applications and Services. Each research line will have a keynote speaker, and a set of sessions. All sessions will be organized as panels of distinguished speakers from academia, industry and High-level European Commission officials presenting their viewpoints on a subarea within each track. Panels will be oriented to encourage interaction among the panelists and between the panelists and the audience.
Rui Campos (INESC TEC) will present a SUPERIOT-related presentation (co-authored with Hélder Martins Fontes and Luis Pessoa) entitled:
“Synergy of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) with Network Digital Twins for Beyond-6G Research”.
LAMC 2023
The IEEE MTT-S Administrative Committee approved an initiative to create the IEEE MTT-S Latin America Microwave Conference (LAMC), to be held in the second week of December, every two years, starting in 2016. LAMC has a general scope on RF and microwave engineering and technologies and aims to achieve a high level of technical quality.
Yasser Mohammadi Qaragoez (KU Leuven) will give a SUPERIOT related paper on “Time Division Duplexing for Enhanced Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer via Backscattering”.
innoLAE 2024
Large-Area Electronics (LAE) is a new way of making electronics, including printed, flexible, hybrid, plastic, organic and bio-electronics. It is enabled by new materials that can be processed at low-temperatures, permits the use of new manufacturing processes such as printing and digital fabrication and enables products with new form factors, new cost structures and the potential for customisation.
innoLAE 2024 will present a programme combining plenary addresses from internationally-renowned speakers, two parallel tracks of oral presentations, a poster session with the latest research results and an exhibition with leading companies and organisations showcasing the latest products and developments. Prizes will be awarded to the most promising scientific and technical developments presented in oral presentation and poster. The conference features extensive networking opportunities.
SUPERIOT researchers from NOVA will make several contributions to this conference.
Pedro Moreira has a presentation (Day 2 Session 11) on “Inkjet printing of non-critical raw materials for thin film transistor application”
In addition, there are two posters on “Manganese Oxide – Enhanced Laser-Induced Graphene on Paper for Micro-Supercapacitor Applications” (Rodrigo A.) and “ZnO and ZTO solution-based nanostructures for UV sensing applications” (David Carvalho).
2024 MRS Spring Meeting
The 2024 MRS Spring Meeting provides a window on the future of materials science, and offers an opportunity for researchers to exchange technical information and network with colleagues.

SUPERIOT at Fourth Visions for Future Communications Summit
Next week, SUPERIOT partner INESC TEC will participate in the Fourth Visions for Future Communications Summit focused on Research Beyond 6G (07-08 Nov-2023; Lisbon, Portugal).
Luís Pessoa and Rui Campos have prepared a presentation entitled “Synergy of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) with Network Digital Twins for Beyond-6G Research” which will be presented by Rui Campos (one of the coordinators of the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia, INESC TEC).
In this talk, SUPERIOT will be introduced as an example of some ongoing INESC TEC projects that are catalysers of beyond-6G research.

Abstract: “In the rapidly evolving landscape of telecommunications, the transition from 5G to 6G marks a pivotal moment in shaping the future of connectivity. However, we must already look beyond this horizon, preparing for the challenges and opportunities that await in the post-6G era. Our talk will focus on our vision regarding the advancements of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) and of Network Digital Twins in Beyond-6G. Furthermore, we will also outline a visionary research concept that aims to integrate ISAC with Network Digital Twins, driving innovation and sustainability in the forthcoming generations of wireless communication networks.”

SUPERIOT researchers on the road
In recent weeks, SUPERIOT researchers have been presenting their work on the project across several continents.
At Imperial College in London, Kerstin Eder (University of Bristol) presented at the NANDA Workshop 2023 (Novel Architecture and Novel Design Automation) on Energy Transparency – More Power to Software Developers! (11-12 Sep-2023).
A few days later in Cáceres, Spain, Luis Pessoa (INESC TEC) presented at the XXXVIII Spanish URSI Symposium 2023 on topics which included SUPERIOT and several other relevant EU projects (13-15 Sep-2023).
In Warsaw (18-21 Sep-2023) Joana Vaz Pinto (NOVA) gave a presentation to the E-MRS Fall Meeting on Micro and Nano structured Parylene C layers for energy based devices.
Then on 22-Sep-2023, Julio Rufo (Lightbee) gave a presentation on SUPERIOT to the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi (UASLP) in Mexico.
Finally, at the Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS) Meeting 2023 (01-05 Oct-2023), Emanuel Carlos and João Coelho (both from NOVA) organised Symposia U on Sustainable Production of Nanomaterials and Ink Formulations for Affordable, Efficient, and Reusable Printed Electronics. This included a paper by these SUPERIOT researchers on Sustainable Devices: From Ink Formulation to Their Printability.

The 2023 IEEE Future Networks World Forum (FNWF’23) will continue the path set in 2018 by the IEEE 5G World Forum in bringing together experts from industry, academia, and research to exchange their vision as well as their achieved advances in the continuing evolution of network technology, including 5G, 6G, and other innovative cross-domain breakthroughs.
